Midnight Wanderings

 Solitary streetlight, broken in nowhere,

Rain soaked street under Moon's glow,

As a stars wink behind grey clouds,

Not a soul to stir bar a phantom shadow.

Me a midnight wanderer of mysterious realm,

Treading lightly, thoughts in company,

A sense of calm, a sense of déjà vu,

My soul sighing contentedly.

My heart is fine these days you know,

Save for the occasional throb of pain,

The noisy silence muffles my screams,

Tear stains washed away in rain.

Little joy left in everyday,

So I make do with every night,

Sitting alone on cold, damp, sea of asphalt,

Cheering and enjoying a random cat fight.

Maybe meet me tonight, 5 past midnight,

Under the broken streetlight, where broken dreams reside,

We'll talk, laugh, perhaps we'll cry,

Perhaps we'll lie down counting stars, hand in hand, side by side.
